The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course in India is demanding as far as students' efforts are concerned. Fear of failure, vast amount of content that has to be mastered, inability to cope with the high expectations of self, teachers, parents and peers' are commonly observed sources of stress. This study was conducted to observe the pattern/sources of stress in first year MBBS students at University of Health Sciences, Pt. B.D. Sharma, PGIMS, Rohtak. A total of 135 students returned completed questionnaire pertaining to various academic and non-academic sources of stress. Work overload, poor accommodation/ living conditions and weak student-teacher relationship came out to be the major sources of stress. More comparative studies are required to further aour knowledge about pattern of stress among various universities/places and thus framing out possible explanations and mechanisms to deal with the same.Keywords

Mid-day meal (MDM) is one of the initiatives that is the central and state government. MDM was started in order to protect our primary school children from malnutrition and other disease and thus providing opportunity for their proper growth and resulting in the improvement in their learning level so that a strong foundation of quality education and physical stamma is provided to the children. Study was Cross-sectional and participants were given a self-structured questionnaire. A sample of 40 teachers (20 rural and 20 urban) were selected from 20 government primary schools (10 urban and 10 rural) from five blocks of district Rohtak, Haiyana. Percentage, simple proportion, Results indicated that mid day meal is a factor for attracting the students for admission(57%),there was increase in the daily attendance in the school (65%), and the there was a good response to stop the dropout rate (57%). Mid-Day Meal Scheme has an overall positive effect on education. The admission and attendance have increased in the schools. The school dropout rate has decreased.lt is needed to change the thinking of teacher toward this scheme and remove the lacuna to make the mid-day meals scheme more effective, productive, purposeftil and resultoriented.Keywords

Attitude refers to the expressed feelings of postnatal mothers regarding postnatal care. The new mother may have an inadequate or incorrect understanding of what to expect during the antenatal period and following delivery. Furthermore, new mothers are not aware of various physical and physiological changes associated with postnatal period. Therefore, developing competence and skill in caring for an infant may be anxiety providing for a new mother, family members, nurses and other healthcare professionals. The sample consists of 100 postnatal mothers with normal vaginal delivery, instrumental delivery and operational delivery. The setting for the present study was Primary Health Center, Kyathasandra, Tumkur. Karnataka. More than half of them mothers were breast complications 72%. The overall mean of knowledge and attitude 76.57, 60.41 with SD of 8.77 10.21 mean score was 84.14 and 75.5. There is significant association between knowledge scores and religion, education occupation, family type, income, order of pregnancy. It shows the structured questionnaire was an effective kin imparting the knowledge of postnatal care. Knowledge deficit existed in varying degree in the Postnatal Mothers in various areas. The mothers were enthusiastic in seeking the information postnatal care was very interesting.Keywords

The present study assess the awareness among differently able person (locomotor disability) about availability and lacuna of various rights and the facilities for them Study was cross-sectional and participants were given a self structured questionnaire. HUDA complex, Rohtak. Percentage, simple proportion. Study participants were 300 differently able persons (150 from urban and 150 from villages) having disability more than forty percent. Many participants suffered by polio (70%) out of which most of them were not given polio drops (90%). Maximum were not satisfied with the disability certificate made by doctors (98). All of them did not wish for their children to be disable (100%), very less number of male (20 %) and female (7%) were m jobs out of which many have used the disability quota(70%). Most of disables did not know Commission for disable persons (90%), Disability Act (70%) and Rehabilitation council of India (96%). Most of parents did not wish to take their children in any function (80%). 50% are 12 passed. Maximum have felt insult due to disability (91%). Most of buildings were not disable friendly (95%). Participants were found lacking of knowledge of rights and facilities available for them and the conditions were worse for those who are living in the villages. There is a need to develop and promote awareness among the differently able person in order to improve their life style and living standard so that they can live a quality of life as of human being.Keywords

With the rapid development the society the persons are having feelings o f sadness, loss, anger, or frustrations which interfere with everyday life for an extended period o f time resulting in the appearance o f various psychological problems, out o f which depression is most common having a prevalance o f 15.1% in India. Severe depression causes various physiological abnormalities leading to various co-morbid conditions. But there is very little literature available about moderate depression; hence the present study is designed to study the effect o f moderate depression on the autonomic system by galvanic skin response and cold pressor test. We studied 40 male patients (to avoid gender difference) o f moderate depression and 40 normal subjects of* same age group at rest in supine position (to avoid posture effect). Galvanic skin response was recorded and compared between these two groups. Comparison of*these two groups showed that GSR is not significantly different in moderate depression patients than that from the normal subjects. Though the major depression is associated with various co- morbid conditions but moderate depression hardly affects the autonomic system. Hence it is better to diagnose and treat the depression at moderate state.Keywords
